Armenian church leader visits imprisoned archbishop

Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II recently paid a visit to Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan in custody, Aravot reported, citing its sources.

The Armenian church leader was accompanied by several bishops during the visit. About a month earlier, Karekin II had been denied permission to visit the archbishop being held in pre-trial detention.

Ajapahyan’s lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, told reporters at the time that the investigator had rejected the request for a pastoral visit.
