Armenian analyst outlines 'five truths likely to be concealed' amid peace rhetoric

Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan has outlined "five truths" he believes will be deliberately hidden from Armenian society over the next ten months under the guise of “false peace” narratives.

1. Azerbaijan’s Massive Military Build-Up
Open-source data indicates Baku is massively stockpiling weapons, preparing not for peaceful coexistence but for new attacks.

2. Entrenchment in Armenian Territory
Azerbaijani forces are fortifying their positions inside Armenia’s sovereign territory, in Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik Provinces, building infrastructure that could serve as launchpads for new attacks.

3. The “Zangezur Corridor” Push
Turkey and Azerbaijan are working to realize a transport link through Syunik. Construction projects are already underway, while parallel propaganda and diplomatic efforts aim to question Syunik’s Armenian identity, gradually legitimizing Turkish-Azerbaijani claims.

4. State-Sponsored Anti-Armenian Propaganda
Azerbaijan's leadership actively fosters anti-Armenian sentiments, escalating from hate speech to the promotion of the "Western Azerbaijan" narrative. This, Geghamyan argues, signals preparation for war, not peace.

5. Turkey’s Closed-Door Policy
Ankara has no plans to open its border or take steps that could strengthen Armenia. Instead, promises of “prosperity after border opening” are used as leverage to secure concessions.

Geghamyan warns that these issues are absent from government discussions and pro-government media, while critics are silenced or dismissed as alarmists. He argues that Turkey and Azerbaijan are preparing to “swallow Armenia”, exploiting the current Armenian leadership’s policy of appeasement.

“The authorities want silence on these truths to remain in power in an ever-weakening Armenia,” Geghamyan wrote. “There are solutions and new ones will emerge if resisting Turkish hostility becomes a national priority."
