ANIF drops defamation suit against Pastinfo; Avinyan case proceeds

The Armenian National Interests Fund (ANIF) has withdrawn its defamation lawsuit against the media outlet Pastinfo, leaving Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan as the sole plaintiff in the case.

In a statement on Friday, attorney Sos Hakobyan said the Court of Appeals earlier annulled a ruling in favor of the plaintiffs and returned the case for retrial, adopting legal positions favorable to the defense.

At the latest hearing, ANIF dropped its demands, while Avinyan’s lawsuit remains under review. The original claim sought 12 million drams in damages.
