FIDE Grand Swiss: Armenia's Shant Sargsyan draws against Azerbaijani GM

In the 7th round of the 2025 FIDE Grand Swiss on Friday, Armenian GM Shant Sargsyan drew against 2741-rated Azerbaijani GM Shakhriyar Mamedyarov.

After this game, Shant has scored 4.5 points out of 7 and will face 2771-rated Indian GM Arjun Erigaisi in the next round, the Armenian Chess Federation reported.

GM Aram Hakobyan has 3.5 points, GM Robert Hovhannisyan has 3 points, GM Gabriel Sargissian has 2.5 points and GM Haik Martirosyan has 2 points.

The tournament leaders are German GM Matthias Bluebaum and Indian GM Nihal Sarin, both with 5.5 points.

In the Women's Grand Swiss, GM Elina Danielian has 4 points, and IM Lilit Mkrtchian has 3 points.

The sole leader is GM Vaishali Rameshbabu, who has scored 6 points.

The 8th round will start on September 12 at 14:00 Armenia time.
