FIDE Grand Swiss nears final round

There is only one round left at the 2025 FIDE Grand Swiss, taking place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The Chess Federation has shared the results of the Armenian chess players after 10 rounds:

GM Shant Sargsyan — 6 points

GM Aram Hakobyan — 5.5 points

GM Robert Hovhannisyan — 4.5 points

GM Gabriel Sargissian — 4 points

GM Haik Martirosyan — 4 points

Shant is in 15th place and will face 2722-rated GM Javokhir Sindarov in the last round.

Before the final round, the leaders of the tournament with 7 points are GM Matthias Bluebaum (Germany), GM Alireza Firouzja (France), GM Anish Giri (Netherlands), GM Hans Moke Niemann (USA) and GM Vincent Keymer (Germany).

In the Women's Grand Swiss, GM Elina Danielian has scored 6 points and is in 9th place before the last round. IM Lilit Mkrtchian has 4 points.

The leaders are GM Kateryna Lagno (FIDE) and GM Vaishali Rameshbabu (India), who have 7.5 points.

The 11th round starts on September 15 at 1 p.m. Armenian time.
