MP asks EU envoy to visit Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan

Opposition MP Hayk Mamijanyan, head of the Pativ Unem faction in the National Assembly, has formally asked the EU ambassador to Azerbaijan to visit Armenian prisoners held in Baku.

In light of the closure of the International Committee of the Red Cross office in Azerbaijan, Mamijanyan sent an official letter to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and EU Ambassador to Armenia Vassilis Maragos. The letter urges the EU envoy in Azerbaijan to meet with Armenian prisoners.

Mamijanyan highlighted the threats facing Armenians in Baku prisons and their show trials, stressing the humanitarian importance of such visits.
