Rep. Sherman reacts to Samvel Karapetyan's detention

U.S. Congressman Brad Sherman has commented on the detention of prominent businessman Samvel Karapetyan and senior clerics in Armenia.

“It is critical that we have strong democratic institutions in Yerevan. There have been allegations, one way or another, against high-ranking clerics and very prominent Armenian businessman. Let me just say this: if there are such reflections, no one should be jailed and no one should face expropriation based on normal political activity," he announced on Thursday.
