Ex-envoy calls for preventing Pashinyan's re-election in 2026

Former Ambassador-At-Large Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the Bright Armenia Party, strongly criticized Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent statements on constitutional changes and the establishment of the Fourth Republic of Armenia as his party’s strategic goal.

In a social media post on Saturday, Marukyan accused Pashinyan of attempting to dismantle Armenia’s legal foundations, including the Declaration of Independence, under the guise of reforms aimed at appeasing Azerbaijan. He warned that any referendum on such changes would carry unpredictable, potentially state-destroying consequences.

“Such a referendum would endanger the state regardless of its outcome. The only way out of this zugzwang is to ensure that Nikol Pashinyan is not re-elected as prime minister in 2026,” Marukyan wrote.
