Armenia hopes for swift opening of border with Turkey, envoy says

Normalization of relations with Turkey remains one of Armenia’s key foreign policy priorities, Deputy National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan said at the 108th NATO Parliamentary Assembly Rose-Roth Seminar in Yerevan on Monday.

Rubinyan, who also serves as Armenia’s envoy for normalization talks with Ankara, highlighted the ongoing dialogue between the two countries.

“We are convinced that this historic opportunity to build good-neighborly relations should not be missed. Normalization will not only bring stability and prosperity to the region, but will also strengthen global security by showing that long-standing differences can be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy,” he stated.

The deputy speaker reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to move forward without delay.

“We hope Turkey will respond to our readiness to establish diplomatic relations and open the shared border as soon as possible,” Rubinyan added.
