U.S. President Donald Trump, who acts as a guarantor of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, appeared to have difficulty recalling basic facts about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
On several occasions during public remarks, Trump mistakenly referred to Armenia as Albania. During a recent appearance in New York, he also turned to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for clarification on how long the conflict had lasted.
“More than 30 years,” Aliyev replied, before once again thanking Trump for his involvement.
The exchange was posted on Instagram by Azerbaijan’s Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, who is also Azerbaijan's First Lady.
