Armenian MP marks second anniversary of deadly fuel depot blast in Artsakh

Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan took to Facebook on Thursday to commemorate the second anniversary of the deadly fuel depot explosion in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), which claimed more than 200 lives and left around 20 people missing.

The explosion occurred shortly after Azerbaijan’s large-scale military offensive and takeover of Artsakh, which forced its entire ethnic Armenian population to flee their homes.

Abrahamyan, who represents the Pativ Unem faction, highlighted that despite various theories surrounding the cause of the explosion, including terrorism and violations of fire safety rules, no one has been held accountable to date.

“It’s an unprecedented tragedy that claimed hundreds of lives, yet the investigation has produced no results. The key questions about the circumstances of the incident and those responsible remain unanswered,” he wrote.

"Then Defense Army commander Kamo Vardanyan remains silent and has not made any public statements regarding the September 2023 offensive, the forced displacement of Artsakh Armenians and the explosion at the Defense Army facility that resulted in hundreds of casualties," Abrahamyan added.
