Opposition MP calls for immediate closure of Yerevan landfill

Armenian opposition MP Garnik Danielyan has urged the government to shut down Yerevan’s Nubarashen landfill without delay, citing serious health and environmental risks.

Speaking at a parliament session on Tuesday, the Hayastan faction MP pointed to numerous complaints from residents suffering from the toxic smoke and foul odors caused by frequent landfill fires.

“The people are being forced to breathe poisoned air and the stench has become unbearable,” Danielyan stressed. “The landfill must be closed immediately.”
