Artak Zakaryan: Armenia's ruling party ‘fears regime change like the devil fears the cross'

Artak Zakaryan, a senior member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), has accused the ruling Civil Contract party leadership of fearing regime change “like the devil fears the cross”.

In a social media post on Thursday, Zakaryan blasted a Civil Contract MP's claims that "the opposition fears peace like vampires fear the light", calling the government policies “vampire-like” carried out at the cost of “thousands of Armenian lives, dignity and sovereignty”.

“You have nothing to do with peace,” Zakaryan wrote. “You are tied to conspiracy theories, ignorance and feeding Turkey’s appetite. You know neither the true price of peace, nor war and national dignity."

He stated that lasting peace can only be achieved through “balanced and beneficial policies” once the ruling party is removed from power.
