Opposition MP: Armenian authorities seek to control unfavorable parties

Opposition Hayastan faction MP Artur Khachatryan accused the government of attempting to make political parties more controllable through recent legislative changes.

Speaking at a parliamentary briefing on Friday, the ARF member criticized Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s remarks about amendments to the law on political parties, arguing that the changes are aimed at sidelining parties considered undesirable by the authorities.

The deputy warned that it could prevent opposition forces from participating in elections, drawing a parallel with developments in 1995.
