MP: Azerbaijan continues sham trial of Armenian prisoners despite peace rhetoric
A court in Baku on Friday continued the show trial of Armenian prisoners, including former Artsakh army commander Levon Mnatsakanyan, who firmly rejected the fabricated charges against him.
Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan said the court questioned a so-called “witness” who alleged that Mnatsakanyan had used violence during a 2022 incident. “Baku doesn't care under what circumstances or in what capacity Mnatsakanyan allegedly acted,” he wrote on Facebook.
Abrahamyan stressed that Azerbaijan is trying to bolster the case against Mnatsakanyan and other detained Armenians with false testimony. “The general spoke in court about his role in all the wars and his motives, categorically rejecting the fabricated accusations,” he said.
"Baku continues its sham trials and anti-Armenian campaigns despite repeated claims of peace and cooperation," the MP added.
