Yerevan hotel fire forces evacuation of 30 people

A fire broke out in the basement of a hotel on Armenakyan Street in Yerevan on Monday, prompting the evacuation of 30 guests and staff. One person was transferred to a medical center for treatment.

Firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to the hotel’s storage area and kitchen. The National Crisis Management Center said the emergency call was received at 12:07 p.m. The fire was contained at 12:36 p.m. and fully extinguished at 12:53 p.m.

Approximately 4 cubic meters of stored carpets in the basement were destroyed in the fire.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
