Large fire erupts at Yetevan landfill

A large fire broke out once again at the Nubarashen landfill in Yerevan last night, with a massive column of toxic smoke visible from several dozen kilometers away.

Residents living nearby report that the landfill has been smoldering for years and strong overnight winds likely fueled the latest blaze.

Meanwhile, the Yerevan Municipality is actively preparing for the upcoming Erebuni-Yerevan celebrations, clearing streets in the city center and working around the clock to pave roads leading to the Erebuni Fortress. While preparations for the festivities are in full swing, the environmental and health impacts of the landfill fires remain largely ignored.
