Armenian lawyer begins indefinite strike over colleague's detention

Armenian lawyer Erik Aleksanyan has announced an indefinite strike in protest against the detention of his colleague, Alexander Kochubayev. The latter was arrested on libel-related charges on Thursday.

Other lawyers, including Tigran Atanesyan and Arayik Papikyan, have joined calls for a lawyers’ strike.

Armenian Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan has criticized Kochubayev's detention, citing lack of grounds.
