Opposition MP calls for strong public response to anti-church campaign

ARF Armenia leader and opposition MP Ishkhan Saghatelyan has called for national consolidation and struggle against the Armenian government’s anti-church campaign.

“The ongoing attacks on the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin can only be stopped through an adequate response,” he said in a social media post on Friday.

“Only a united reaction, an expression of disagreement and the will to fight against injustice can halt this wave of repression,” he added.

Saghatelyan urged the people to join Saturday’s rally in Yerevan’s Liberty Square in support of imprisoned clergymen, philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan and other political prisoners.
