Armenia reaffirms transparent and open policy on peaceful nuclear energy at UNGA80

At the UNGA80 1st Committee Thematic Discussion on Nuclear Weapons on Friday, the Armenian delegation underlined the importance of the existing arms reduction and disarmament regimes, reiterated its firm commitment to the fulfilling of its obligations under the NPT and called upon the states that have not yet done so to join the NPT as non-nuclear weapon states, the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the UN reported.

The delegation also underscored that Armenia opted for a transparent and open policy for safe and peaceful uses of nuclear energy and will continue to pursue this policy further by strengthening and undertaking necessary measures to enhance and maintain nuclear safety.
