Azerbaijani plane secretly lands in Yerevan for civil society talks

An Azerbaijan Airlines plane landed in Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport under strict secrecy on Wednesday, without prior notice to the airport staff, according to Azerbaijani media reports.

The flight from Baku, the first in about 30 years, carried Azerbaijani civil society representatives for preparatory meetings with their Armenian counterparts. Azerbaijani political analyst Farhad Mammadov said the discussions, held in an atmosphere of mutual trust, covered political and humanitarian topics and included a meeting with Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan.

Mammadov emphasized that the event was organized solely by Armenian and Azerbaijani participants without third-party mediation and expressed hope such dialogues would continue to foster peacebuilding efforts. He added that the Azerbaijani delegation also toured Yerevan during their visit.
