YSU lecturer dismissed after example in class 'offended' ruling party member

A lecturer at Yerevan State University (YSU), Sahak Manukyan, says he has been dismissed after an example he used during a lecture allegedly offended a member of Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party.

In a social media post on Tuesday, Manukyan said that he could no longer continue teaching at YSU “for reasons beyond my control”.

“It turns out that an example I used during a lecture offended the ‘dignity’ of a female member of the ruling party,” he wrote. “Afterwards, the YSU rector decided to dismiss me.”
