Armavir governor accused of campaigning during working hours

Armavir Governor Vahram Khachatryan has been accused of engaging in political campaigning for the ruling Civil Contract party during official working hours, according to the election watchdog Akanates.

In a statement on Tuesday, the group said Khachatryan continues to perform his official duties while also taking part in campaign events for the upcoming Vagharshapat municipal elections and posting promotional content on social media. No government record indicates that the prime minister has granted him leave, official registries show.

Observers said the actions may violate Armenia’s rules on the conduct of public officials, which prohibit the use of administrative resources and work time for partisan purposes. The Electoral Code also bans civil servants from campaigning while performing official duties.
