HayaKve to monitor Vagharshapat municipal elections

Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission has accredited the HayaKve initiative to monitor the upcoming municipal elections in the enlarged Vagharshapat community on November 16.

The group will observe both the voting process and potential violations during the election campaign, summarizing its findings in a special report. “Our goal remains to protect every citizen’s vote and we are ready to do so in Vagharshapat,” it said in a statement on Tuesday.

Eight parties and blocs are running in the elections. The Homeland Party has nominated writer and publicist Khachik Manukyan as its mayoral candidate and the party’s ballot number is 8.

The campaign began on October 22 to run through November 14.
