Pashinyan says opening of Armenian-Turkish border 'a matter of time'

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan claims the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border is “a matter of time”, citing ongoing positive dialogue between the two countries.

“We have a very constructive dialogue with Turkey. I believe the establishment of diplomatic relations and the opening of the border are just a matter of time, since there are no significant obstacles now,” Pashinyan said at a debate on the sidelines of the 8th Paris Peace Forum on Thursday.

Pashinyan expressed optimism that the two countries would soon establish full diplomatic, economic and political ties.

“How quickly this will happen is another matter,” he said. “But I believe we are approaching a stage where we will have normal neighborly relations, open borders, economic and political cooperation. I truly believe that moment is coming soon, although I cannot say exactly when.”
