Former MP Arman Babajanyan charged for failure to comply with court ruling

Former Armenian lawmaker Arman Babajanyan has been charged under Article 507(1) of Armenia’s Criminal Code for failing to comply with a court order within the timeframe set by a bailiff.

The case has been assigned to judge Martin Arzumanyan of the Yerevan Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction.

Yerkir.am reports that the charge stems from Babajanyan’s failure to execute a 2021 court ruling telling him to retract and apologize to the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF). The court had found his public remarks describing the ARF as a “party with a terrorist past” defamatory. Babajanyan had reportedly failed to comply with the ruling for over three years.
