PM highlights Georgia's role in Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process

Georgia continues to play a key role in promoting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in an interview with TRT World on Friday.

Kobakhidze emphasized that Tbilisi has long acted as a bridge between its neighbors Armenia and Azerbaijan, helping foster dialogue and economic cooperation. “Over the past 35 years, Georgia played a crucial role in promoting peace in the region and continues to do so for our landlocked neighbors,” he said.

He described the pre-signed Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement as “extremely important”, saying it would strengthen regional stability and boost economic development across all three countries.

“We are very pleased with the conclusion of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and hope it will further promote peace in the South Caucasus,” the prime minister said. “All three countries are currently enjoying strong economic growth thanks to peace and excellent cooperation. We must continue in this spirit. This is Georgia’s vision for the development of the South Caucasus.”
