Armenian opposition MP warns of 'national collapse' amid attacks on church

Armenian opposition lawmaker Lilit Galstyan has warned that the country is facing a profound existential crisis marked by moral and cultural decay.

Speaking at a forum titled “The Long-Term Consequences of Upcoming Elections” organized by the Alternative Projects Group on Friday, the Hayastan faction MP said Armenian society must confront fundamental questions about its future or risk “ceasing to exist altogether".

Galstyan accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's government of systematically dismantling the state through “value degradation”, including attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Church, the erosion of education standards and the weakening of national identity and ties with the Armenian Diaspora.

She described the government’s policies as a reflection of Pashinyan’s “failures, fears and flawed value system”, warning that the current trajectory could lead to "the nonexistence of Armenia".

Galstyan called for national unity to defend Armenia’s identity, culture and faith.
