Armenia confirms influenza A strain during 2025-2026 flu season

Armenia confirmed cases of the influenza A (H3N2) subtype during the 45th week of the 2025-2026 flu season, the country’s National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) reported on Monday.

The NCDC urged the public to take preventive measures to reduce the spread and complications of the seasonal flu, including vaccination and avoiding close contact with people showing symptoms of respiratory infections.

Health authorities also advised individuals experiencing flu-like symptoms to remain at home, refrain from sending children to school or daycare and seek medical advice instead of self-medicating or using antibiotics.

The confirmation of H3N2 comes as regional health agencies across Eastern Europe and the Caucasus monitor rising influenza activity ahead of the winter months.
