Yerevan authorities spent nearly 755 million drams on city day celebrations

The Yerevan Municipality allocated approximately 754.7 million drams from the city’s 2025 budget to mark the 2807th anniversary of the Armenian capital, according to data provided to Panorama.am.

Although this year’s date was not a jubilee, festivities were held across multiple administrative districts, featuring concerts and cultural events dedicated to the founding of the city.

In response to Panorama.am’s inquiry regarding the scale of the celebrations, the Municipality explained that the events aimed “to offer residents and guests of the capital a day full of vivid impressions.” The program, titled Erebuni-Yerevan 2807, included numerous public events financed through the municipal budget.

The city hall confirmed that all services related to the organization and implementation of concerts and festivities were procured in accordance with Armenia’s law on procurement. The scope of services and corresponding payment amounts were defined in the relevant contracts, which have been made publicly available on official procurement platforms.

Officials reported that 131 million drams were allocated specifically for technical arrangements at the main event in Republic Square, covering stage construction, lighting and fireworks.

The Municipality also clarified that the performance by renowned singer Tata Simonyan was provided as a gift to Yerevan and was not paid for.
