Bust of Uruguay's national hero unveiled in Yerevan

A bust of Uruguay’s national hero, José Gervasio Artigas, has been unveiled in Uruguay Square in Yerevan following a decision by the Yerevan City Council.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Yerevan Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan and Uruguayan Ambassador to Armenia Silvana Lesca Barolini.

The monument honors Artigas, widely regarded as the founding father of Uruguayan independence and a key figure in the country’s struggle for sovereignty in the early 19th century.
