CEC sets timeframe for recount requests in Vagharshapat elections

Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission has outlined when political groups can submit applications for vote recounts following Sunday’s municipal elections in Vagharshapat.

Requests may be filed on 17 November between 12:00 and 18:00, and on 19 November from 09:00 to 11:00, the Commission said. All applications must be delivered to Territorial Electoral Commission No. 14, which administered the vote.

CEC officials noted that under the country’s Electoral Code, TEC No. 14 is obliged to recount the results of three polling stations selected by lottery, using a procedure set by the Central Commission. The recount will take place even if no political force submits a request, as the law requires a random check of three precincts within the commission’s area of responsibility.
