Washington meeting condemns political pressure on Armenian church

Political pressure exerted on the Armenian Apostolic Church has been condemned by members of the international community. The statement comes from Robert Amsterdam, legal counsel for Samvel Karapetyan, who announced the development on his Facebook page and shared the recording of a Washington-based discussion titled “The Persecution of Christianity in Armenia.”

During the event, international lawyer Peter Flynn, alongside other experts, presented what he described as a comprehensive picture of the political persecutions taking place in Armenia.

Flynn also noted that the use of pre-trial detention as a punitive measure against businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan is a matter of serious concern.
