Firefighters have brought a large grassland blaze under control in the Chambarak-Ttujur area of Armenia’s Gegharkunik Province after working through the night, the Interior Ministry reports.
The fire, which broke out on a mountainside on Friday, spread across three separate hotspots. Crews succeeded in preventing it from reaching nearby forests and residential areas.
A total of 243 rescue personnel, six fire engines and 30 operational teams remain on site to contain remaining flames and secure the area. Units from Yerevan, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk and Tavush Provinces were deployed, along with specialized rescue teams.
Efforts to fully extinguish the fire are underway.
