CSTO supports peace deal between Armenia, Azerbaijan

Member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) have voiced support for the swift conclusion of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The declaration of the CSTO Collective Security Council was published on the Kremlin website on Thursday.

“We note with satisfaction the active interstate dialogue between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. We support a comprehensive settlement and the earliest possible conclusion of an unconditional peace treaty between the parties,” the document states.

Leaders of the CSTO member states convened for a summit of the Collective Security Council in Bishkek on Thursday. Armenia did not take part in the meeting.

“As far as Armenia is concerned, it will not be in attendance, but its representatives have told the organizers that they have no objections to the adoption of coordinated documents at the meeting,” Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters earlier.

Armenia has frozen its participation in the CSTO since February 2024.
