Artsakh president summoned for questioning after comments on Pashinyan-clergy meeting
Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan has been summoned for questioning by Armenia’s Investigative Committee. The summons came shortly after he held a press conference following a court hearing on Tuesday.
According to his lawyer, Roman Yeritsyan, the questioning, scheduled for Wednesday, is connected to the criminal case against Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan.
During the press conference, Shahramanyan addressed a recent meeting between the head of the Artsakh diocese and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which also involved other senior clergymen. He stated that he asked the cleric whether the meeting had been coordinated with Armenia's spiritual leader, Catholicos Karekin II and received a negative answer.
Shahramanyan also noted that he was aware of Karekin II’s stated position on Artsakh and had previously expressed his gratitude for it
