World Boxing Championships: Five Armenians to fight for quarterfinal places today
Five Armenian boxers will fight for quarterfinal places today at the IBA World Boxing Championships in Dubai, which has brought together athletes from 108 countries.
Armenia already has six fighters through to the last eight. Baregham Harutyunyan (48kg), Artur Bazeyan (60kg), Hovhannes Bachkov (67kg), Artush Hovhannisyan (80kg), Narek Manasyan (92kg) and super-heavyweight Davit Chaloyan all won their last-16 bouts and will contest their quarterfinals on 10 December, aiming for places in the semifinals.
A further five will attempt to join them today. In the 17:00 session, Davit Egoryan (54kg), Narek Hovhannisyan (63.5kg) and Rafayel Hovhannisyan (86kg) are scheduled to box. At 21:00, Zhirayr Sargsyan (54kg) and Rudolf Garboyan (57kg) will take to the ring.
