Ex-ombudsman: Border delimitation hasn't reversed Azerbaijani occupation of Armenian lands

Former Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has criticized the Armenia-Azerbaijan border delimitation process, saying it has failed to secure any withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from Armenia’s sovereign territory.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Tatoyan, the leader of the Wings of Unity movement, said 12 rounds of talks had produced “not a single centimeter” of restored Armenian control. He described the process as a “deception”, alleging it serves as a tool to prolong and legitimize the Azerbaijani occupation.

Tatoyan also made a proposal to rename Sev Lake and its adjacent areas as the Donald Trump National Reserve and mountainous areas around Jermuk as the Melania Trump National Reserve, arguing this would complicate Baku’s position. His comments appeared aimed at highlighting what he described as the Armenian government’s inability to address the situation.

The ex-ombudsman urged Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to declare the zones protected areas, saying he would not seek credit for the idea if it contributed to ending the occupation of the “Real Armenia” promoted by Pashinyan.
