Serzh Sargsyan: EU 'turning a blind eye' to Armenian government's actions

Former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Thursday accused the European Union of overlooking the conduct of Armenia’s leadership, saying Brussels is prepared to “accept whatever they do”.

“It’s no secret to us that the European Union has closed its eyes and will tolerate whatever they do,” Sargsyan told reporters ahead of a court hearing.

Asked about comments by an EU commissioner that the bloc plans to provide Armenia with €12 million in support to counter hybrid threats before the 2026 elections and whether it amounted to an advance for a “Moldova-style scenario”, Sargsyan replied: “That’s for them to answer.”
