Armenian government grants customs break to firm owned by Samvel Aleksanyan's daughter

The Armenian government is set to approve a customs duty exemption worth 109.6 million drams for Alex Textile LLC, a company owned by businessman Samvel Aleksanyan’s daughter, Astghik Aleksanyan.

The incentive, scheduled for approval at Thursday’s cabinet meeting, covers the import of technological equipment, components and raw materials to be used in clothing production, according to the draft decision.

Alex Textile, founded in 2014 and based in Yerevan, plans to invest 1.3 billion drams in raw materials under its priority investment program. The project includes the creation of 50 new jobs by 2026 with an average monthly salary of 153,000 drams.

The government says the imported materials are not sourced from Eurasian Economic Union member states because they do not meet the company’s technical requirements.
