Pashinyan: Those claiming Karabakh issue remains unresolved call for new war

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has warned that claims the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unresolved could pave the way for renewed fighting.

Speaking to reporters in Hamburg on Thursday, Pashinyan said reopening the issue would inevitably lead to “renewed war, new casualties, new hardships and another blockade with unpredictable consequences.”

He criticized political groups within Armenia who insist that the Karabakh issue is not over, saying their stance amounts to advocating for another war.

“Some political forces in Armenia are effectively calling for renewed fighting, while Azerbaijan continues to expand its military budget and promote the ‘Western Azerbaijan’ narrative,” Pashinyan said.

“Those who claim the Karabakh issue remains unresolved are, in effect, calling for a new war,” he concluded.
