Armenian bishop's detention extended

A court in Armenia has extended the detention of Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, head of the Aragatsotn Diocese, by two more months.

The decision was made by judge Karen Farkhoyan, who had also ordered the initial arrest. The bishop has been in custody since 16 October.

His lawyer, Roman Aharonyan, told Pastinfo that the ruling would be appealed. The court has restricted the bishop’s visits, allowing meetings only with his mother.
