Armenian authorities probing soldier's death

The Armenian Investigative Committee has launched a criminal probe into the death of a serviceman found with a gunshot wound, it told Panorama.am on Saturday.

Preliminary data suggests the soldier sustained a fatal injury involving his assigned weapon. No further details were provided.

The body of the serviceman, identified as Smbat Kirakosyan, was discovered at around 4 p.m. local time on 12 December.

The Ministry of Defense says an investigation is underway to fully establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
