Armenia probes reports of Nestlé NAN infant formula recall

Armenia’s Food Safety Inspection Body (FSIB) says it is carrying out checks following reports that Nestlé has recalled several batches of its NAN infant formula in Europe over contamination concerns.

In a social media post on Monday, former MP Naira Zohrabyan said Nestlé had withdrawn the batches after the detection of cereulide toxin linked to Bacillus cereus, describing the substance as highly dangerous. She added that Russia’s food watchdog had removed the entire NAN range from pharmacies and questioned whether similar action had been taken in Armenia.

Zohrabyan said she visited several pharmacies and found the product still on sale.

Responding to the claims, FSIB spokesperson Anush Harutyunyan said the agency had been aware of the issue since last week. “Control measures are underway and the results will be published,” she said.
