Jailed Armenian archbishop hospitalized

Jailed Archbishop Michayel Ajapahyan has been transferred to the Izmirlian Medical Center in Yerevan.

His legal team reports that the archbishop is currently undergoing examination.

Earlier reports suggested that Ajapahyan urgently needed surgery.

The archbishop has been sentenced to two years in prison on charges of calling for the seizure of power and overthrow of the constitutional order in Armenia strongly denied by him as politically motivated.
