Armenian prosecutors seek seizure of ex-customs official's assets

The Armenian Prosecutor General's Office seeks to confiscate expensive property and other assets belonging to Samvel Hovsepyan, former chief customs inspector at the State Revenue Committee’s Ararat customs office, and his affiliate amid illicit enrichment accusations.

Prosecutors have asked the Anti-Corruption Court to allow the forfeiture of three properties, the right to purchase one property, a vehicle, a stake in a company and bank deposits totaling 30.58 million drams.

The claim also includes 1.76 million drams linked to an unlawful portion of a loan claim, 945,000 drams in alleged illicit income and 22.66 million drams that authorities say cannot be justified by lawful income between 2017 and 2025.
