Artsakh leader questioned as witness

Samvel Shahramanyan, the fifth president of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), has been questioned by Armenia’s Investigative Committee as a witness, he said on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, Shahramanyan dismissed reports that he was to be charged or placed under preventive measures. He said the questioning related to the 2023 hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh and its consequences, but declined to give details, citing the confidentiality of the investigation.

Shahramanyan added that he has cooperated with investigators and answered their questions, adding the recent searches at the Artsakh Representative Office in Yerevan were unrelated to Thursday’s questioning.
