Hayakve calls for boycott of Azerbaijani fuel

The Hayakve initiative has called on drivers to boycott fuel sold at RAN Oil petrol stations, saying it originates from Azerbaijan and could indirectly fund military action against Armenia.

In a statement on Tuesday, the group criticized the government for presenting the import of about 600 tons of Azerbaijani petrol as a “historic achievement” under its peace agenda. Hayakve said the fuel was purchased by Mega Trade, a company linked to the family of pro-government MP Khachatur Sukiasyan, and has entered the Armenian market.

The initiative urged drivers not to refuel at RAN Oil stations, arguing that buying Azerbaijani fuel would provide Baku with resources to acquire weapons and prepare for new aggression against Armenia. It accused Azerbaijan’s leadership of torturing Armenian prisoners held in Baku and amassing arms, while portraying fuel sales as a gesture of peace.

“Fallen Armenian soldiers’ blood is far more precious than fuel imported from an enemy,” the statement said, calling for a nationwide boycott.

Similar calls had been made by individuals earlier.
