Russia mulls expanding exports to Armenia via Azerbaijan

Russia is discussing expanding cargo deliveries to Armenia via Azerbaijan to include fertilizers in addition to grain supplies, according to Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.

Speaking to Russia 24 on Wednesday, Overchuk pointed out that the first train carrying Russian grain travelled through Azerbaijan and Georgia to Armenia in early November, making the first such shipment in more than 30 years. Kazakh grain has since followed the same route.

He added that Moscow and Yerevan are also considering return shipments from Armenia to Russia, calling the developments significant steps that until recently seemed unlikely.
