Armenia’s parliamentary elections likely on June 7, CEC chief says

Armenia’s next parliamentary elections are likely to be held on June 7, 2026, Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan said on Wednesday, citing constitutional timelines.

Under the constitution, parliamentary elections must take place between June 2 and June 12, with the exact date set by a presidential decree that has yet to be issued, Hovakimyan told reporters. He noted that June 7 is the only Sunday within that window, making it the most probable date.

“If the president designates a non-working day, additional procedural adjustments will be required,” he said.

The CEC plans to introduce expanded monitoring and oversight tools for the upcoming vote, particularly to strengthen supervision of campaign financing and online political advertising.

Working with international partners, the commission will deploy monitoring programs to more comprehensively track and document online campaigning, he added.

Separately, Hovakimyan said major renovations of the CEC’s administrative building are scheduled to begin in 2027, with funding allocated in the 2027–2028 state budget.
